The University of Dundee has been recognised as a global centre of excellence for Life Sciences & Medicine in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022.
The QS league tables cover a total of 51 disciplines, grouped into five broad subject areas, and are regarded as one of the most prestigious global rankings for universities.
Dundee was ranked 44th in the world (up from 82nd) for Pharmacy & Pharmacology and 93rd (up from 104th) for Biological Sciences. These strong discipline showings helped the University to 131st in the Life Sciences & Medicine grouping, a rise of 21 places on last year.
The University was also ranked in the top 100 for Art & Design, top 150 for Nursing, and top 200 for Medicine.
Professor Shane O'Neill, Senior Vice-Principal at Dundee, said, “We are delighted that we have once again been shown to be a centre of excellence in life and medical sciences.
“This is also a recognition of the excellent work taking place in Art & Design, Nursing and other subject areas where Dundee performed strongly in the face of competition from the world’s top universities.”
The QS World University Rankings by Subject are compiled annually by Quacquarelli Symonds, the international higher education specialists, to help identify the leading universities in particular subjects. Research citations, along with the results of major global surveys of employers and academics, are used to rank universities. More information about this year’s methodology is available.
Dundee was last month given a 5 Star rating by QS. QS Stars is a rating system that provides a detailed look at higher education institutions across the world, focusing on specific topics such as teaching strength, graduate employability, facilities, inclusiveness and innovation.
