We are delighted to announce that the ENFSI-OOS 2024: Visualising the Future will be hosted by the Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science, University of Dundee, between 16 and 17 May 2024.
With previous destinations including Belgium and Germany, the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes One Day One Topic Seminar (ENFSI-OOS) is all set to come to Dundee this year. Working collaboratively with the Dundee City Region Convention Bureau (DCRCB) has enabled the Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science team to showcase exactly why the Dundee City region is the perfect location.
The purpose of ENFSI as a network of experts is to share knowledge, exchange experiences and come to mutual agreements in the field of forensic science. ENFSI is recognised as a pre-eminent voice in forensic science worldwide by ensuring the quality of development and delivery of forensic science throughout Europe.
Around 150 - 200 delegates from across Europe and beyond are expected to attend the two-day conference event (16-17 May 2024), which will be hosted at Dalhousie, University of Dundee. The estimates have already put the impact of the event on the local economy at approximately £182,000 (not including extended stays).
Professor Niamh Nic Daeid, Director of the Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science at the University of Dundee, said hosting ENFSI-OOS 2024 highlights the ability of both the city and the university to organise a major European meeting and reflects the innovative approaches being developed across Scotland in terms of partnerships between Higher Education and front-line operational practitioners. Prof Nic Daeid also welcomed the opportunity to work with DCRCB in every aspect of the organisation of the meeting, including being an active participant in the organising committee.
“Without the support from DCRCB, it would not have been possible to organise this event. We are looking forward to another very successful meeting, which will showcase the wonderful work across the Scottish tertiary education landscape and how we can make our research and teaching relevant in the real world by highlighting the operational skills and attributes needed in this area of forensic science,” she explained.
